Ocean Thraptsathiri White 2022 – Idaia Winery

The Philosophy

Our Thrapsathiri is one of the first single-varietal expressions of this emerging Cretan grape and our winery was among the first to recognize its potential. The high altitude of the fruit’s origin and the careful winemaking process result in a highly expressive wine that blends richness and roundness with freshness and acidity, as well as the exoticism with ‘greener’ elements. This wine seems to unite two worlds, the old with the new, much like Crete’s geographical position, which marks the southernmost tip of Europe.

Flavor Characteristics

Bright lemon-green color. Complex and charming aroma where stone fruits and exotic fruits are beautifully combined with citrus on a background of pepper, white flowers, and minerality. Rich flavor with creamy texture, refreshing acidity, and a very nice persistent and spicy aftertaste. Enjoy it with fish and seafood prepared in all ways, poultry and white meats with white sauces, lamb cooked in a pot with lemony sauces, pasta, vegetables cooked in olive oil, cheeses, risotto, and rich salads.
