The Philosophy
Idaia red wine belongs to the classic series of our winery. It is created by combining two great indigenous red grape varieties from Crete that complement each other and mature for several months in oak barrels, and then for a few years in the bottle. The purpose of this wine is to express the richness of the Cretan land and reach the consumer when it has fully developed its character. It is a wine with a consistently good price-quality ratio that can be equally enjoyed in a simple everyday occasion or a special one.
Flavor Characteristics
Deep red color with purple highlights. Complex aromatic profile that focuses on fresh fruit expressed through sour cherries, blackberries and plums, which are subtly embraced by oak notes that refer to tobacco, pungent spices and chocolate, but also some hints of leather. Its taste is quite rich with ripe tannins, concentrated fruit and a long aftertaste. Enjoy it with grilled or stewed red meats, meats with mushroom sauces, slow-cooked game, mushroom risotto, a variety of cured meats, and mature cheeses.
